Day 4 Game 1 Tallahassee, FL (3) vs. Concord, NH (0)

Will Brown and Jonah Wachter pitched inning for inning trading zeros. Both defenses came up huge for their pitchers. Ryan Kastle of Concord made another spectacular diving catch adding to his highlight reel for the week. Wachter continued to baffle hitters until the 7th inning when Brown singled up the middle to snap a streak of 12 no-hit innings. An error in the outfield allowed Brown to cross the plate for the first run of the game. Tallahassee added 2 more runs including a straight steal of home from Argene Lynn. Brown continued his dominance shutting down Concord 1-2-3 in the 7th.

Day 4 Game 2 Albany, MN (4) vs. New Castle, IN (1)

This game started out as a pitching battle until Albany did what Albany does best, score runs in bunches. Avery Schmitz started the scoring with a 2 run single into right center. Ethan Navratil added a run with an RBI groundout and gave Albany a 4-0 lead after 3 innings. New Castle battled all game and finally broke through in the 7th inning with an RBI single from Devin Fielder. Albany wins 4-1 and in 3-0 on their side of the pool.

Day 4 Game 3 Denver City, TX (0) vs. K-W-R-L, WA (1) (8 Innings)

Today was full of pitching battles and this game was no different. Denver City was led by Erlan Lozano and Fernny Vega. The real story of the game was the soft tossing lefty for KWRL Derek Kroop. He threw 6 2/3 perfect innings until he issued a walk but still came out of the game after 7 no-hit innings. Denver City had a chance in the extra frame but couldn’t cash in a run even though they had runners on first and second and 1 out. Alex Wood worked a lead off walk for KWRL and Landon Krausse executed a perfect sac bunt to get Wood to second base. Denver City intentionally walked Irving Alvarez to bring up Cade Reitzenstein who would have a chance to win the game with 2 outs. He hit a soft liner up the middle that just hit off the end of the second baseman’s glove. Wood got a great jump off second and scored on an absolutely perfect slide. What a game!!!

Day 4 Game 4 Mifflin County, PA (7) vs. Kelso, WA (5)

Mifflin County opened up the scoring early in this game with a Brycen Hassinger 2 run triple. They continued the scoring in the 2nd inning with an Ethan Eichhorn 2 run single and finished the inning up 5-0. Kelso finally broke through in the 4th inning and cut Mifflin Countys lead in half. Masyn Allison started the scoring with an RBI groundout and another run scored on a throwing error. Kyle Spain added the last run of the inning on a bases loaded walk. In the 6th inning Eichhorn singled up the middle for another RBI giving Mifflin County the 7-3 lead. Kelso came right back with a Nate Lonner RBI triple to right center and then scored on wild pitch. Kelso fought hard but just ran out of time. Mifflin County wins 7-5 and stays undefeated in their pool.
