The Royals have announced that they have hired Mike Matheny as their manager. He played 13 MLB seasons for the Brewers, Blue Jays, Cardinals and Giants. He previously managed the Cardinals from 2012-18.

Stephen Strasburg has opted out of the final four years and $100M of his deal with the Nationals.

2020 Modern Baseball Era ballot will include Dwight Evans, Steve Garvey, Tommy John, Don Mattingly, Marvin Miller, Thurman Munson, Dale Murphy, Dave Parker, Ted Simmons and Lou Whitaker. The ballot will be voted on at the Winter Meetings on Dec. 8.
