The Red Sox announced they have elected Dustin Pedroia, Jonathan Papelbon and Trot Nixon into the teams Hall of Fame. The ceremony will be on May 30th.
Sean Newcomb of the Oakland A’s underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. It’s a minor procedure and Newcomb is still expected to be ready for Spring Training.
MLB Competition Committee approved these changes for the 2024 season:
- 18 second clock with runners on
- 4 mound visits, down from 5
- If a pitcher starts to warm up before an inning, he must face at least one hitter.
- The runner’s lane to first has been widened to the infield grass

The Pirates have signed LHP Martin Perez to a 1 year/$8 million contract.
The Rockies signed RHP Chance Adams to a minor league deal with a Spring Training invite.
The Giants have signed C Tom Murphy to a 2 year/$8 million contract with a option for a 3rd year.
The Pirates have re-signed DH/OF Andrew McCutchen to a 1 year/$5 million contract.
The Angels signed OF Jake Marisnick to a minor league deal with a Spring Training invite.
The Brewers have signed C Eric Haase to a 1-year major league deal.
The Mets acquired RHP Adrian Houser and OF Tyrone Taylor from the Brewers. The Brewers will receive RHP prospect Coleman Crow (Mets #29 prospect).
The Pirates signed INF Jake Lamb to a minor league deal with a Spring Training invite. Lamb was an All-Star in 2017 with the Dbacks.
The Dodgers have signed RHP Yoshinobu Yamamoto to a 12 year/$325 million contract with opt-outs after year 6 and year 8. The Dodgers also had to pay a posting fee of $50.6 million to the Orix Buffaloes.
The Tigers have signed RHP Shelby Miller to a 1 year/$3 million contract with a club option for a 2nd year.
The Padres claimed RHP Luis Patino off waivers from the White Sox.
The Padres have signed LHP Yuki Mutsui to a 5 year/$28 million contract with opt-outs after year 3 and year 4.
