The Surprise Saguaros (19-10) beat the Glendale Desert Dogs (15-13) 7-6 in the AFL Championship Game, and it took 11 innings. Scott Schreiber (Astros) laced a single to the left-center-field gap for the walk-off winner. This was the Saguaros 3rd AFL Championship and first since 2013.
Heston Kjerstad of the Orioles won the AFL MVP. He led the AFL in doubles (9), hits (35) and total bases (61). He had a slash line .357/.385/.622. Kjerstad is the Orioles #9 prospect.
Lawrence Butler of the Oakland A’s won the Dernell Stenson Sportsmanship Award, which is voted on by the field staff. He had a slash line of .241/.389/.444. Butler is the A’s #14 prospect.
