The Braves exercised a 2024 option on manager Brian Snitker’s contract. He got an extension in February with a 2024 option. Snitker has been with the organization for 45 seasons and the manager since 2016.
The Padres hired Francisco Cervelli as the team’s catching instructor. Cervelli had 13-year MLB career spent mostly with the Yankees and Pirates.
MLB owners voted unanimously to institute a lockout. It is the first baseball work stoppage since 1994 and the 9th in the sport’s history.
