The Mesa Solar Sox (15-13) beat the Surprise Saguaros (17-12) 6-0 in the AFL Championship game. Caleb Kilian (Cubs), Nick Vespi (Orioles), Logan Gillaspie (Orioles) and Graham Spraker (Blue Jays) combined to pitch a 1 hitter. This is the Solar Sox 6th AFL Championship and 1st since 2016.
Nelson Velazquez of the Cubs won the AFL MVP. He led the AFL in HR’s (9), runs (24) and hits (40). Velazquez had a slash line of .385/.480/.712. He is the Cubs #29 prospect.
Logan O’Hoppe of the Phillies won the Dernell Stenson Sportsmanship Award which is voted on by the field staff. He had a slash line of .299/.440/.519. O’Hoppe is the Phillies #11 prospect.

The Mets have hired Billy Eppler to be their GM. He held the same position with the Angels from 2015-20.
The Philles have hired Howie Kendrick as a special assistant to the GM. He played from 2006-20 and was an All-Star in 2011 with the Angels.
