Yoenis Cespedes and the New York Mets have agreed on an amended contract. While he remains with the team, the settlement significantly lowers his salary from the planned $29.5 million.
The Dbacks have hired James Loney to work in their Baseball Ops Department. Loney played in MLB from 2006-16 for 4 teams, Dodgers, Rays, Mets and Red Sox.
The Tigers have announced they will retire “Sweet” Lou Whitaker’s #1 on August 29, 2020. Whitaker played with the Tigers from 1977-95. He was the 1978 AL ROY as well as being a 5-time All-Star, 3 Gold Gloves, 4 Silver Sluggers and World Series Champ in 1984.
Ian Kinsler has announced his retirement but will remain with the Padres in the front office. Kinsler played in 14 MLB seasons mostly with the Rangers and Tigers. He was a 4-time All-Star, 2-time Gold Glove and won a World Series with the Red Sox in 2018.
