The season is just over a week old and we already have the entire season figured out. The Dodgers are horrible, the Pirates are going to run away with the NL Central, and the Yankees are going to break every homerun record ever recorded.

Okay so maybe it is a little too soon to make such assumptions but we have learned a number of things to start the season.

  1. Bronx BOMBER!!!

In case you don’t know Giancarlo Stanton can hit the ball really hard. It isn’t a big surprise to anyone when I say I think Stanton will lead MLB in homeruns. The ball flies off his bat like a bouncy ball. Honestly I would have loved to have seen him play for the Mariners just to see him hit one out of Safeco field. Scary to think that once Gary Sanchez and Aaron Judge get on a roll that team can just pound the ball.

  1. Astro’s Repeating?

In case you don’t know the Houston Astros are a great team. They are the first team in a while that I have really felt that they are better than they were when they won the World Series. The offseason moves that they made have strengthen this team and there is no way any team in the AL West is going to keep up with them.

  1. Baseball’s Unwritten Rules Are Back

Hey Minnesota Twins if you are going to shift on a left handed hitter and he bunts for a base hit don’t complain about a smart baseball play. A hitter’s job is to hit the ball where the defenders are not.  I don’t care if there is a no-hitter going on, play defense and stop the hitter. This and other ‘unwritten rules’ are such a waste of time. I believe in sportsmanship but at the professional level you’re paid to do a job, so do your job.

  1. Opening Day Was Great

I loved that opening day had all of the teams scheduled to play. Now I know a few got rained/snowed out but it was so awesome to see so many games on opening day. Baseball is back and I so missed and needed it. Some people get depressed in the winter because of the lack of sun, but I get depressed because of my lack of baseball.
