Well baseball fans here we are again ready to start another baseball season and as such it’s time for another set of predictions from yours truly. Usually, I get about half of these right and so it’ll be fun to see if I can get any right this year.
- The All-Star game will be moved away from Atlanta. This is one I truly hope I don’t get right. However, with the voting laws that were recently passed and the problematic team mascot for the Braves it’s very unlikely that MLB keeps the All-Star game here in order to spotlight the town. My prediction is that it gets moved to Los Angeles.
- Someone other than Mike Trout wins the AL MVP award. This may be the longest of long shots that I predict. However, I’m taking the field in this bet. Call me crazy but I kind of think that Josh Donaldson is going to win it. Either him or maybe even Luis Robert.
-
Fernando Tatis gets hurt. I really don’t want to get this right but I just don’t believe in the health of this budding superstar. It feels like something always goes wrong for the Padres and Tatis getting hurt would be just par for the course.
- Eugenio Suarez wins the Home Run crown in the National League. The Reds aren’t going to be very good, but Suarez has the ability to hit home runs like nobody’s business. I think he’s going to be swinging for the fences all year long and as such I bet that he hits 50.
- The Twins win the American League this season. I really like the Twins going into this year. I like their roster. I like their pitching and I like their team. I am predicting that they go to the World Series this year. Which means they like finally win a playoff game.
- The Dodgers win the National League. It’s really not fair, but when a team can outspend every other team two to one it’s hard to not pick them.
- Kris Bryant gets traded to the Braves midseason. Okay this is fanservice for me. I totally admit that this is what I want to happen. However, it makes a lot of sense. The Cubs are likely looking at a rebuild and Bryant is coming up on free agency. The Braves have a huge hole at third because Austin Riley has a huge hole in his swing and the Braves have some depth at pitching in their Minor League system that they can deal from. I suspect that both sides make this happen sometime during the year.
- NL MVP this season is Ronald Acuna. I am expecting big things from Acuna Jr. this year. I feel like the Mike Trout of the National League is going to arrive this year and really show out.
- Wander Franco gets called up this season at some point and lights the league on fire. Wander by all accounts is the second coming. So, if he gets the call, it’s very likely that he’s going to be good.
