The Fixes
If you look at the history of baseball, things haven’t been as great as many fans have created in their heads. Racism, drugs, cheating, violence, tragedies and more can be found throughout every era of baseball. So I know that nothing will make the game of baseball perfect in all areas. Baseball is a game created and played by humans and in case you haven’t noticed we’re pretty messed up, but there are ways to make it better.
We need to celebrate the coaches who are player focused. Making decisions that build young athletes into adults. If little league and summer league coaches who focused on developing players both physically and mentally were honored for their time and those that only put winning first were not given a team we could see more talent in the game and fans supporting the game. We would probably see more good coaches return to the game.
If MLB owners understood the importance of getting fans in the seats we could see even small market, non baseball communities, rallying behind their teams and creating an excitement around the game that hasn’t been seen before. And you know there is more potential for profit with a sell out crowd paying lower ticket prices then a stadium at 25% capacity with higher ticket prices.
Players need to be allowed to have fun and enjoy the game. Yes I think there is a point where celebrations can cross a line but a bat flip isn’t it. A pitcher celebrating a strike out is it.
The baseball community needs to accept technology and not complain about it all the time. Instant replays, robot strike zones, launch angle info and more are a part of the game now or will be soon. I know not everyone likes it but instead of complaining we need to find ways to make it better and use it to benefit the game of baseball.
The biggest thing that needs to happen is that more people need to want to be a benefit to the game and those involved. Give more back to the game then you take. It seems so simple and yet so many take and never give back. Baseball needs everyone to join together to spread this game around the world to new fans everywhere.
