Nothing like a Spring Training night game.

By Josh:

I love the month of February. It is this month that Spring Training begins, colleges begin playing games and I get my free birthday burger from Red Robin this month. The only other month that comes close in my book is July where I get to watch baseball, enjoy fireworks and feel the warm sun.

We are down to just days until pitchers and catcher report to either Arizona or Florida.  Very few things help to get me out of the funk that is created by winter like watching videos of pitchers throwing in bullpens and seeing photos of players interacting with fans.

Even though I can’t make it to Arizona this spring, the start of college baseball brings the game closer to home for me.

The last few days as I’ve taken my daughters to the local park to enjoy the sunshine that we are getting in Washington, I’ve been able to listen to the Lower Columbia College Softball team practicing just across the parking lot.

Hearing gloves popping, players yelling and bats making contact are three of my favorite sounds.  In fact, why has no one made a CD of baseball noises for fans like me to listen to during the dark of winter.

Normally I have other sports and things going on during the winter to distract me but not this year. I honestly didn’t even know that the NCAA football championship game had happened until the day after when I saw tweets about the game. Then for this years Super Bowl I don’t have cable TV so I don’t think I can or will even watch the game. I’m sure the commercials will be on YouTube after the game. And let’s be honest I’m not wasting my time with the NBA.

All of this to say that I have my calendar sitting in front of me counting down the days until games start both locally and at the Spring Training complexes.

Bringing you baseball from the Little Leagues to the Major Leagues. If it's baseball it's good enough for us.
