In baseball history there are two types of legends. First are the players that have careers that stand out amongst all others and not only raise that player to the level of Hall Of Famer but even above that to a Legend of the Game.  The second type of legend is the moments that are so amazing, so unbelievable that the event is remembered for years to come.

There are a lot of legendary moments in the history of the game of baseball. Some were performed by Legends of the Game and others were done just by average ball players who for a play, an at bat, an inning, or a game took their ability to a higher level and will forever be remembered with their accomplishment.

DSC_0020Last week I got another opportunity to get some autographs from a man who is not a legend of the game, but performed an act in his career that is without a doubt one of the most legendary moments in all of baseball history.

Don Larsen wasn’t a dominating ace. He wasn’t a Hall of Famer, but in Game 5 of the 1956 World Series Larsen accomplished something that no one has been able to match. Larsen threw the only Perfect Game in World Series history.

This amazing game, played during the most important time of the season, has propelled Larsen’s name into that of myth and legend.  Have you ever gone watched a World Series without at least a mention of the Perfect Game?  Heck when the Yankees make the World Series highlights of the Perfect Game are played before, during, and after each game.

Baseball can take an average player and put their name in the realm of legends.

Head on over to the 9 Inning Know It All Twitter page because we are doing a giveaway of a Don Larsen autographed card this weekend.
