Getting awards is not why Norm, Kelly or myself are a part of the 9 Inning Empire.  However, it is really nice to get them, show them off and on a few occasions (at least once a day) brag about them.  Awards are great and are a big reason why something that initially started as a hobby almost 2 years ago, now consumes countless hours and has expanded to multiple social media platforms, connected with numerous business and done so much more than I ever dreamed.

The blog started off the awards in July of 2012 when it was ranked in the top 50 for all MLB Fan blogs for the first time, coming in at #37.

I didn’t even realize that the blog had been ranked because I didn’t know the rankings even existed until August when the blog hit #39 and was mentioned in the summary paragraph of the rankings. People began to click on the link to the blog making me aware of the rankings.

Since July of last year the 9 Inning blog has been in the top 50 MLB Fan blogs for 10 straight months reaching as high as 13th in February ’13 and 15th in back to back months, Oct ’12 & Nov ’12.

DSC_0379Since July we have expanded to be more than just a blog and are continuing to expand (9 Inning Run Down). So it is exciting to have won a new award honoring all of the hard work that has been put into the 9 Inning Empire.  This past weekend the 9 Inning Empire was officially awarded the Silver Medal for Best Use of Social Media by the 2013 Best of the Mid-Valley awards presented by the Statesman Journal.

What makes this so amazing is that this award was voted on by the fans.  It was amazing to just be nominated and a part of the process but to come in 2nd was extremely special. So to everyone who voted, THANK YOU! We are thrilled that so many of you supported us and we can’t wait for next year because we want to win first place.
