My guest today is Doug “Dr. Doug” Dodds. Dr. Doug is the morning dj at 106.3 ktry out of Sonoma County, CA. What I remember most about Dr. Doug was his show in Portland, OR with Skippy. Doug is a huge A’s fan.

Dr. Doug, thanks for taking time to answer a few questions. Please tell us a little about yourself.

drdougI am Doctor Doug a radio DJ and Operations director of KTRY Santa Rosa CA (my home town where I grew up)

I am an A’s and Raiders fan and I am excited about the 2013 A’s team

The A’s, what can we say about their 2012 season but, wow! It was crazy. What was the Bay area like during the A’s and Giants run in the playoffs?

Baseball was nuts here in Nor Cal this year first the Petaluma national Little League team almost won it all at the LLWS this year. The Giants pitching caught fire and they fought off all the elimination games in the playoffs   then completely dominated the Tigers in the WS.

How did you become an A’s fan?

I grew up in the bay area and growing up many chose A’s or Giants when little.  I chose the A’s after going to a game at a young age. I always disliked Candlestick park. it was always so cold and foggy there and not a fun place to watch games. The coliseum actually shakes when the crowd goes crazy!

Give me 5 prospects in the A’s farm system who we should watch.

Sonnie Grey is a RHP that was a #1 pick for A’s in 2011. Has nasty curve ball and should be on A’s team in 2013.

Shortstop Addison Russell was the 11th overall pick and the highest-drafted A’s prospect since Eric Chavez and hit 370 in his first pro year in A ball.

Michael Choice, OF, is ready now but outfield is crowded.

AJ Cole RHP they got for Gio Gonzalez in Wash Nationals trade and was their top pitching prospect.

1st-3b Miles Head who was part of the Andrew Bailey trade with the Red Sox is a stud that is another Billy Beane find.

Who’s your all-time favorite and current player?

Ricky Henderson is my all time favorite. He could take over a game by himself. He had power so you had to be careful or he’d take you deep. If you walked him he would steal 2nd and 3rd in 2 pitches and be sitting at 3rd before you knew it.  Yoenis Cespedes the rookie from Cuba is so exciting and is a physical beast. He had to get used to living in US after being poor and having nothing all his life in Cuba. 2013 he will be amazing.

What was the coliseum like during the final week of the season?

The coliseum was nuts the last week. They had to sweep the Rangers in the last 3 games of the season and every game they had 20k or more walk up for tickets. The last game was a 1215 game and people played hookie from work and school to be there to watch them win the AL West from Texas.
It must have been a sight seeing thousands doing “The Bernie.”

The right field bleachers did it all together it was amazing to see live.
And finally, in 2012 you lost your partner in crime your beloved Lab Sebastian. Please tell us about Sebastian. I know he meant a lot to you and you miss him dearly.

Bash, is what I called him. There isn’t an hour I don’t think about and miss my best friend. He had an infectious personality and was always happy. He was my ace through some tough times and speed bumps in my personal life. He offered unconditional love 24/7.  Dogs become like children and I lost my buddy way too soon.

Thanks for taking some time to answer a few questions.
