Every position in baseball has a typical mentality that goes with it whether it is 100% true or not. Relief pitchers are crazy. Starting pitchers are overly serious. Middle infielders are focused leaders. Outfielders have a flare for the theatrical. Corner infielders are the muscle on the team who believe in the phrase Grip it and Rip it.
Catchers though are a little bit of everything. They have to crazy to get behind the plate, they have to lead the team, be serious, and be relaxed all at the same time. It takes a special individual to choose the catching position. Kane Ulrich, catcher for the Lower Columbia Red Devils, is one of those guys who puts on the gear with pride. He gives it everything he has each and every game.
