Norm: I had the chance to ask Bobby Haney a few questions. Bobby was a 22nd round draft pick by the San Francisco Giants in 2010 out of the University of South Carolina. Thanks for taking some time Bobby.

You won a National title while at South Carolina. What was that like?

Bobby HaneyHaney: Winning a national championship is always your goal in college but it was fantastic to win it in front of my father and grandfather out in Omaha. To win it for the fans and the city of Columbia, there was nothing else like it really.

Norm: Growing up who were your favorite players?

Haney: My favorite player growing up was Derek Jeter because I was a huge Yankee fan and he was an inspiration to us all.

Norm: What has been your favorite walk up music you have used?

Haney: My favorite walk up music was a song called the stanky leg. I used it my junior year at South Carolina.

Norm: Who has been the toughest pitcher you have faced?

Haney: The toughest pitcher i faced was probably my former teammate Blake Cooper who continues to get me out in pro ball.

Norm: You sat down and wrote a book, “From Kings Park to Omaha”. What inspired you to write it? Tell us a little about it

My new book from Kings Park to Omaha was inspired by the fans of South Carolina and a young boy named Bayler Teal who was a die hard Gamecock fan and passed away the night before the national championship. You can find my book on my website and it will be signed by myself to whoever you wish. Just go to kp2omaha.com

Thanks for taking some time. Good luck in the upcoming season. Please check out Bobby’s book “From Kings Park to Omaha”
