FRONT RANGE LEAGUE ANNOUNCES NEBRASKA OUTLAWS

GERING, NE – The Front Range League today announced its latest expansion team, the Nebraska Outlaws. The team will play at Oregon Trail Park Stadium in Gering and will join the FRL for the 2026 season. The Outlaws share the ballpark with the Western Nebraska Pioneers and will be operated by Mayra and Chuck Heeman, owners of the Pioneers and founders of the Front Range League.

“The thought of having two teams in Gering really started almost six years ago, during the pandemic,” Chuck Heeman said. “The team we used to own in Casper couldn’t play in 2020 due to COVID restrictions, so we were very close to bringing that team to Gering and doubling up. But by the time that decision had to be made, it was too close to the season to put a good product on the field for our fans. There are a lot of summer baseball leagues who run multiple teams out of one facility. We’ve followed them, I’ve talked to a few over the past five years and we felt this is a good time to bring this to our community.”

The Outlaws operate as a separate team from the Pioneers, with a separate roster and coaches. Team colors are burnt orange, navy blue and charcoal, and the logo design is provided by Precision Range Media of Casper, Wyoming. The team will name a head coach soon and has five players signed to the 2026 roster.

“We have the best facility in the league, greatest fans anywhere, amazing host families and tremendous corporate support here in Western Nebraska and Eastern Wyoming,” Chuck Heeman said. “Our game day staff is awesome and players want to play here, coaches want to send their guys here. This is a chance to give our fan base more fun, food, drink and great summer nights at the ballpark. We look forward to taking this on and having fun with the
Outlaws-Pioneers rivalry.”

The 2026 season is scheduled to start May 26 with 44 league games, and end August 1, followed by a best-of-three Championship Series. The full 2026 schedule is being finalized with a goal of a February 15 release date.
