Fall time is here so that means one thing. It’s World Series time. The Fall Classic of 2015 has the New York Mets vs the Kansas City Royals. At the beginning of the season who would have thought these would be the two teams fighting it out to hoist the Commissioner’s Trophy.
The Mets come into the World Series flying high after sweeping the Chicago Cubs in the NLCS. Clutch hitting from second basemen Daniel Murphy and strong pitching got them to the World Series. Now with the Royals who beat the Toronto Blue Jays in six games are riding a high of emotions. The Royals were so close last year but fell just short of a championship.
The Mets have a very good pitching staff which they have acquired via trades and through the draft. On the other hand the Royals sure do love to hit. For the Royals to be successful against the strong pitching the key is Alcides Escobar. As he proved in the ALCS by winning the MVP, he definitely set up the big hitters in the Royals lineup. Now the Mets have had a super hero of their own in Murphy who all of sudden became a home run threat in the postseason. As well, some guy named Yoenis Cespedes who has been great since coming over from the Detroit Tigers at the trade deadline.
The question in this series is can the Mets out think the Royals hitters. At the same time can the Royals finally break through against the great pitching of the New York Mets.
Now it’s that time for a prediction. In my opinion thanks to the American League winning home field advantage for the Royals, I do believe the Royals will be celebrating its first championship since 1985. The series will go back and forth but the Royals will win in 7 games.
Let’s sit back and enjoy these final few games of the season. Just remember baseball fans Spring Training will be right around the corner.
