It is 11pm at night and I am wide awake. Well at least not asleep.
I started covering a high school showcase in Centralia, WA today at 8am put on by Baseball Northwest. It is an opportunity for high school players to show their talent in front of dozens of college coaches from the area. One such coach is Eddie Smith, head coach of Lower Columbia College, and a 2015 ABCA Coach of the Year winner. I got the opportunity to talk with Eddie again and see what he was up to.
I took some photos, you can see them here Baseball Showcase. Then went home so my daughter could nap. Did a little bit of work in my actual job (yeah as much as I wish 9 Inning Know It All was my job it is just my hobby.)
I then drove to Portland to watch some of the Softball Little League World Series. It was amazing and I will write more on that later. I may go to another game so I don’t want to write too much too soon.
Then I got home to find an email from ESPN. This is when my day got a little crazy exciting. At 10pm I found an email from ESPN asking if they could use a photo of mine that was used in a news story posted a bit earlier. The story was about David Denson, the first openly gay professional baseball player under contract in a MLB farm system.
I don’t really want to go into what my opinions are on the story but really more about my feelings of seeing ESPN asking how I wanted photo credit from them. I haven’t seen the photo on the website, nor has anyone seen it used on TV yet but regardless the fact that I was contacted by ESPN is awesome for me. It also makes me feel even more confident in my skills and potential with this site.
As we are rapidly approaching 1,000,000 views I am excited for where we have come and where we are going. Long live the 9 Inning Empire.
