2014 Babe Ruth World Series Day 5 Recap

Day 5 Game 1 Broomall-Newtown, PA (1) vs. Lumber River, NC (3)

Winner of this game takes 1^st place in the National Division. Broomall gets on the board 1^st with a RBI single from Tony Gallo. Lumber River finally ties the game up in the 4^th with an opposite field RBI single from Ethan Chavis. Lumber River takes the lead in the 6^th inning scoring 2. Broomall came up empty in the 6^th and 7^th but still advance out of Pool Play.

Broomall: Scott Hahn went 2-2 with a walk.

Lumber River: Ethan Chavis went 3-3 with a RBI. He also pitched 7 innings only giving up 1 ER.

Day 5 Game 2 Waterford, CT (2) vs. Woodinville, WA (6)

Woodinville takes the early lead scoring 2 in the 1^st on RBI singles from Joey Wick and Nathaniel Sagdahl. Waterford answers back with 2 of their own runs in the 2^nd inning on a Justin Keating RBI double and a sac fly from Ben Pickowitz. From there Woodinville took over scoring 1 in the 4^th and 3 in the 5^th winning the game 6-2.

Waterford: Justin Keating went 1-3 with a RBI double.

Woodinville: Joey Wick went 2-4 with an RBI double and scored 2 runs.

Day 5 Game 3 Fargo, ND (1) vs. Tri-County, TX (5)

Fargo started out great putting up a quick run in the 1^st inning on a Luke Sandy RBI single. Tri-County came back just as quick scoring 2 in the 1^st and 2 more in the 2^nd. Tri-County scored 1 last run in the 6^th on a Ty Boedeker RBI single scoring Jacob Salem. Fargo had plenty of chances to score but just couldn’t get the runs in. They put a little scare into the Texas team who earned the #1 seed in the American Division.

Fargo: Jimmy Reynolds went 1-3 with a run and a stolen base. (Son of Shannon “Not Sharon” Reynolds)

Tri-County: Ty Boedeker went 3-4 with a double, RBI and run scored.

Day 5 Game 4 Torrance, CA (6) vs. Longview, WA (1)

Lots of early runs today and this game wasn’t any different. Torrance scores 1^st on a groundout RBI from Genjiro Okura. It took a couple innings but Longview tied the score at 1 in the 3^rd on a Zach Brown RBI single. Game stayed at 1-1 until Torrance scored 5 in the 6^th on a few timely hits and a couple Longview mental errors. Torrance won 6-1 taking the #2 seed with Longview getting the #3 seed.

Players of the Game

Torrance: Edward Zavala went 3-4 with a double and a run scored. He also pitched 5 2/3 innings only giving up 1 ER.

Longview: Zach Brown went 2-2 with a RBI.
