Day 3 Game 1 Torrance, CA (10) vs. Fargo, ND (0)
Jacob Nishimura of Torrance started the game with a double later scored on a sac-fly from Jack Colette. Torrance never gave up the lead from there. In the 2nd inning Taishi Nakawake had a RBI single. They scored 3 more in the 4th, 1in the 6th and 4 in the 7th in win 10-0. Even though Fargo struggled they fought hard all game and never gave in.
Players of the Game:
Torrance: Noah Nishimura went 2-3 with a run, RBI and a walk.
Fargo: Tyler Anderson had a few nice plays in the field.
Day 3 Game 2 Woodinville, WA (7) vs. Broomall-Newton, PA (0)
Woodinville put 3 quick runs in the 1st on a RBI double from Nathaniel Sagdahl, a RBI single from Ben Wadowski and a RBI single from Colton Van Til. The game stayed 3-0 until the 5th inning when Woodinville scored 3 more runs. They added a run in the 7th to win 7-0. Broomall-Newton had chances to score they just couldn’t get the runs across. They had 4 hits and 5 walks.
Players of the Game:
Woodinville: Josh Johnston went 2-3 with 2 runs scored. He also pitched 5 scoreless innings.
Broomall: Chris Annas went 2-3 with a ground-rule double.
Day 3 Game 4 Kelso, WA (13) vs. Waterford, CT (10) 8 Innings
This was one of the better games of the tournament. Long story short is that Kelso was down 5-0 after the 2nd inning battled back to get it to 5-4 then fell behind once again. At the end of the 5th in was 9-4 Waterford. Going into the 7th Kelso was down 10-7. They managed to score 3 runs, 2 on suicide squeezes to tie the game 10-10. 8th inning no one scored, 9 inning no one scored but in the 10th Kelso scored 3 times and Waterford couldn’t answer back in the bottom of the 10th. It was an unbelievable game with 23 runs and 35 hits. Waterford played hard but their downfall was that threw the ball around a lot and made 6 errors in the game. Yancy Bird pitched a great game. He came in the 5th inning and pitched 6 innings striking out 11.
Players of the Game:
Kelso: Terris Record went 2-5 with 3 runs and the RBI triple that tied the game. He also made a great bare-hand play to throw a runner out at home.
Waterford: Daniel Castelopoggi went 5-6 with 3 runs and a RBI. The 5 hits tied a Babe Ruth World Series record for hits in a game.
Day 3 Game 4 Longview, WA (8) vs. Schererville, IN (7)
Just like the previous game, this was one of the better games of the tourney. Schererville jumped out into a 7-0 lead after 3 innings. No quit for the Longview team as they scored 3 in the 4th and 3 in the 5th. Longview then scored 1 in the 6th and went into the 7th inning all tied up. Devin St. James RBI single in the 7th gave Longview the 8-7 lead and they held on to win the game. Great game to finish off a great day at the ballpark.
