Not as much news today but a few more signings, one big trade and a ton of rumors.
NEWS
The MLB and NPA have come to an agreement on the new posting system. Now we are waiting to find out if the Rakuten Eagles President will post Masahiro Tanaka.
The New York Mets held a press conference to introduce their newest OF Curtis Granderson. Last week he signed a 4 year/$60 million deal. He will wear the #3.
Mark Mulder is hoping to make a return to the big leagues. First reported by ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick, Mulder’s comeback attempt began in October, spurred by an attempt to mimic the delivery of Dodgers reliever Paco Rodriguez. Mulder thinks Rodriguez’s delivery may have helped him figure out how to pitch effectively again.
TRANSACTIONS
The Tigers have signed Rajai Davis to a 2 year deal in the range of $9-10 million.
After the rumors of a 3 team trade all morning the White Sox, Diamondbacks and Angels came to an agreement. The D-Backs received power hitting Mark Trumbo and a 2 PTBNL, one from each team. The White Sox received speedy OF Adam Eaton. The Angels received 2 LH pitchers, Tyler Skaggs and Hector Santiago.
The Rockies acquired Brett Anderson from the Oakland A’s for Drew Pomeranz and Chris Jensen.
RUMORS
The Phillies are shopping Cole Hamels and Cliff Lee.
The Indians are open to trade proposals for Asdrubal Cabrera as well as Justin Masterson.
The Diamondbacks have offered Joba Chamberlain a 1 year deal worth close to $3 million. Other teams interested as well.
Pirates listening to offers on Justin Wilson.
The Rangers have interest in Bartolo Colon.
Jason Hammel had received interest from the Cubs, Pirates, Royals and Braves.
Mets have interest in Chris Perez.
Corey Hart could make a decision soon.
Newest team connected to Matt Kemp is the Tigers.
With the White Sox acquiring Adam Eaton, Alejandro De Aza is now available.
Mark Ellis has talked to several teams, including talking to the Cardinals today.
The Reds haven’t totally given up on keeping Shin-Soo Choo. It may be a long shot but they still have hope.
Mariners may consider trading Mike Zunino in a mega deal for Matt Kemp or David Price. Sounds like Taijuan Walker is untouchable.
