I love a good prank. I have been on the end of many and I’ve dished them out as well. So what makes a good prank? Surprise is a great start. It should be tasteful. If you know it’s going to offend your victim don’t do it. Keep it clean. No bodily fluids. It shouldn’t be destructive, nor should anyone get hurt from it.
Sometimes if you watch a game you will see a few pranks being pulled. The “hot foot” is a favorite in the dugout. This is pulled off by placing something flammable (hand sanitizer) on the back of some ones spikes and lighting it on fire. There are a few variations of this.
Another favorite is the bubble gum bubble on top of a hat.
Pranks can get pretty fancy and players put some thought into most of them. I have seen tires removed from cars and placed in different places around a ballpark where the victim can see them.
One season we had a great bus driver. He was the subject of many pranks. We would hide on the bus and scare the crap out of him. We would also have the stadium address announcer ask for him to return to the bus. He would always think something was wrong with the bus. We also had the mascots from a team show up at the team hotel at 2 a.m. and knock on his door. He answered the door and they threw water and baby powder on him. Now I don’t know about you, but if your bus driver told you that something like that happened, would you believe him? Maybe he needed to quit drinking? Or was it a bad dream?
I feel some of my best work was done that season.
We had a couple of pitchers who wanted to freeze someone’s laundry loop. In minor league baseball you have a loop where your personals (shorts, jock, socks, etc.) go on to be washed. So we froze this guy’s loop overnight. The next morning we hung up the ice cube in his locker before leaving on a road trip.
Pranks are pulled to lighten up a clubhouse and just to pass time.
Here are a few that have been pulled off that are pretty funny. http://gameofinches.blogspot.com/2009/02/baseballs-top-pranks.html

So do some research and find a good one and prank someone. Next week I will write on the best ballpark promotions.
