In game three of this series the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes look to take the series win and win their fifth game in a row, while the Yakima Bears look to snap their 5 game losing streak and get their first win of the second half.
Cameron Lamb will take the mound for the Volcanoes looking to improve his 2-4 record. Lamb is coming off a rough outing against Everett where he went 2.2 innings and gave up four earned runs and eight runs overall.
The Bears counter with Teo Gutierrez. Guiterrez pitched 6 perfect innings against teh Volcanoes on July 14th before allowing three hits to start the 7th. Gutierrez doesn’t throw the ball hard but he is able to mix up his fastball, changeup and curveball well.
Bear’s keys to the game
*Stop the Volcanoes momentum. After last nights walk off home run by the Volcanoes the Bears will need to score early in the game to try and break some of the Volcanoes confidence and momentum.
*Look at the positives. Teams on losing streaks can be theirown worst enemies mentally. Let go of the bad moments and find positive to focus on or the streak will continue. Just ask the Mariners about that one.
Volcanoe’s keys to the game
* Play all nine innings. After playing back to back hard fought games teams can sometimes get lazy and then try and recover at the end of a game, but that rarely works.
* Don’t let up. When you have a team that is frustrated you need to keep jumping on them and not let them recover against you.
