Here I sit in my office doing my actual day job and I am thinking about all the reasons I don’t like winter, especially this winter, and want spring/summer to come ASAP. Could it be that my office has been so cold at times this winter that I’ve had to wear gloves to be able to type and work on my computer? A little. Is it because cold and flu season sucker punched me, dropped kicked me, pushed a brick wall on me and then repeated. Yeah that has something to do with it.

However, the biggest reason is because it feels like any and all baseball related news and action has come to a complete stand still. I’ve just been stuck looking outside wanting to go to the ball field and listen to the sounds of baseball. I was going to go to FanFest for the Mariners this year to get some of my baseball fix but they canceled it. So I can’t even get a quick and easy baseball fix that way.

Normally my need for baseball is eased with action from the Hot Stove. Except this year’s Hot Stove has been like my office, frozen.

I’ll be honest that normally at this time of the year I have already started preparing my predictions for the upcoming season. I have a pretty good idea of who my picks for division winners will be but this year I can’t even begin to think about it because there are still way to many free agents on the market that could shift the balance of power in a lot of divisions.

Jake Arrieta, Lorenzo Cain, Alex Cobb, Yu Darvish, Todd Frazier, Eric Hosmer, J.D. Martinez, Logan Morrison, Mike Moustakas, Mike Napoli, Houston Street, and a ton of other free agents are still free agents. We are only 5 weeks away from Spring Training and I don’t think I’ve ever seen this many high level free agents still be available. You could build a playoff contending, heck even World Series contending team with the free agents that are still out there.

Outside of a couple of trades this offseason has been slow and boring. I don’t know how to get my fix of baseball to get me through to next couple months. In fact I still have almost two months before I even get a chance to go to my first baseball game of the year.

I guess it is time to pull out all of the baseball movies I have and start watching them.
