The Peoria Javelinas (18-12) beat the Mesa Solar Sox (16-13-1) in the AFL Champion game 8-2. It’s Peoria’s sixth league championship and first since 2012.
Ronald Acuna of the Braves won the AFL MVP and for the second year in a row he’s the youngest in league history at age 19. Acuna led the AFL with 7 HR’s. He is the Braves #1 prospect and the #5 prospect in all of MLB.
Eric Filia of the Mariners won the Dernell Stenson Sportsmanship Award which is voted on by the field staff. Filia led the AFL in AVG (.408), OBP (.483) and SLG (1.088).

The Braves will hire Alex Anthopoulos as their new general manager and executive vice president. Anthopoulos signed a 4 year contract.
Carlos Beltran announced his retirement from MLB. He played 20 seasons with 7 different teams and won a World Series with the Astros this year. He was the 1999 AL Rookie of the Year. He was a 9 time All-Star who won 3 Gold Gloves and 2 Silver Sluggers.
MLB announces the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres will play in Monterrey, Mexico from May 4-6.
The Yankees are in the process on interviewing candidates for their manager. So far they have interviewed Aaron Boone, Ron Thomson, Eric Wedge and Hensley Meulens.
The A’s have announced that Matt Williams will take over as the team’s new 3rd base coach. Williams played 17 years in the MLB and was the manager of the Nationals in 2014-15.
