If you have followed the 9 Inning Know It All page for even a small amount of time you probably know I’m a Mariners fan. I live in Washington State, only about 2 hours from Seattle. My first MLB game was at the Kingdom and I’ve had the amazing opportunity to watch greats like Ken Griffey Jr, Edgar Martinez, Randy Johnson, Ichiro and King Felix play in Seattle.

SafecoI love watching the Mariners and honestly I wouldn’t have had the chance to do this if not for Nintendo stepping in and not only buying the team but deciding to keep them in Seattle.

To the soon to be former owners of the Mariners I want to say with all my heart thank you for keeping baseball not only in Seattle but in the Northwest. I know full well that the Mariners were on the verge of leaving the area and that would have been devastating to baseball in the northwest.

Now I know full well that the Nintendo Corporation has been more focused on making profits then putting out a winning team. I get that. I don’t disagree with that at all. However, we can talk about baseball in Seattle because of them.
I am excited for the next ownership group. I hope that winning is their focus. To be honest I would be in love with the idea of Mark Cuban buying the team. I know he is crazy and a little loud, but he loves his teams and has one goal and that is winning.
Now I know this probably won’t happen. Baseball owners aren’t big on the idea of Mark Cuban joining their ranks but really he would be so much fun.

Regardless of who owns the team in the near future the truth is all of us baseball fans in the Northwest owe Nintendo a little bit of gratitude for saving baseball here. Doesn’t mean we all agree with what they have done but we can still be thankful.
