So we are only a few weeks into the season but I wanted to look at how things stand now with win-loss records, player injuries and overall team performance to see if I would change my preseason picks if I could.

AL East – I picked the Yankees. Even though the Orioles started off hot I’m not too worried about this pick. Obviously there is still plenty of season left and no one in that division is really running away with it yet.  I’ll stay.

AL Central – I picked the Royals and I still feel great about this one. What I don’t feel great about is that I thought the Twins and Indians would compete in this division and they really aren’t.  The Tigers look good and the White Sox are winning. Royals still my pick.

mlb-logos01AL West – I picked the Astros and felt the Rangers would be right there with them. Well so far this division stinks and I’m not as confident about my Astros pick. Every team looks like they could lose this division or win it every other day. If I could go back I may have picked the Rangers but the Astros still have a talented team that will get it together.

AL Wild Card – My picks were the Rangers and Twins. Yeah I’m changing this. Twins are out and I will pencil in the Orioles with my eraser ready to put the Tigers in the Wild Card.  I still think the Rangers and Astros will both make the playoffs so one of them will be here.

NL East – I picked the Mets and well the Nationals look far better. I know that the Mets pitching staff has been shuffled around with some personal things going on, but the need to get things going. The rest of this division is as expected. Braves, Phillies and Marlins aren’t going to be in this race for long. Am I saying I’m leaning towards the Nationals right now? Yes I am.

NL Central – I picked the Pirates and despite a hot start by the Cubs I’m happy with my pick.  This is only the start of what should be an amazing division race all year long.

NL West – I picked the Dodgers and what the heck the Rockies are tied for 1st with the Dodgers.  I didn’t even put the Rockies in my prediction post because I didn’t think they would win anything. Trevor Story has had something to say about that. I still like the Dodgers but this division might start to beat up on each other.

NL Wild Card- I picked the Cubs and Cardinals and I will stick with it simply because I don’t see any separation in teams at this point but I will say watch out for the West sneaking a 2nd team in this year.

So in all I’m still happy with my picks but I can see a couple races that aren’t going the way I thought they would this early in the season.
