On every team there is always one player whose voice stands out from all the rest. It is encouraging, driven and demanding all at the same time. The voice calls out for the best from every teammate. For the Lower Columbia Red Devils, as a spectator, I truly feel Gabe Ihrig is that voice. His desire to win, and his understanding that winning happens as a team, pushes him to encourage and cheer on his teammates regardless of the score of the game.
With every player I’ve ever interviewed I could hear the desire to be great and win, but with Gabe I heard it louder and clearer than most. When he talks about not reaching his goal and the drive to reach it this year you can tell that doing the work that is demanded to be the best is exactly what he plans to do.
