Here are the results from the second division in the Mt Rushmore voting.

Ernie BanksChicago Cubs

Ernie Banks (21 votes)

Ryne Sandberg (18 votes)

Ron Santo (14 votes)

Fergie Jenkins (12 votes)

Other receiving votes: Billy Williams (6 votes), Sammy Sosa (3 votes), Hack Wilson (3 votes), Kerry Wood (2 votes), Mark Grace (2 votes), Three Finger Brown (2 votes), Greg Maddux (1 vote), Cap Anson (1 vote), Andre Dawson (1 vote), Steve Bartman (1)

No surprises here. I was wondering if someone would give Bartman a vote and someone did. It’s good to have a little sense of humor. Mr. Cub had the most votes as it should be.

johnnybench-300x297Cincinnati Reds

Johnny Bench (20 votes)

Pete Rose (18 votes)

Joe Morgan (11 votes)

Barry Larkin (9 votes)

Other receiving votes: Frank Robinson (7 votes), Tony Perez (7 votes), Ted Kluszewski (2 votes), Joe Nuxhall (1 vote), Johnny Vander Meer (1 vote), Sparky Anderson (1 vote), Ken Griffey Sr. (1 vote), Tom Seaver (1 vote), George Foster (1 vote)

This was a close battle for the 4th spot which Larkin took over Robinson and Perez. I think when you have 4 Hall of Famers on your Mt. Rushmore you really can’t go wrong.

Milwaukee BrewersMilwaukee Brewers

Robin Yount (16 votes)

Paul Molitor (16 votes)

Rollie Fingers (11 votes)

Cecil Cooper (7 votes)

Other receiving votes: Bob Uecker (3 votes), Prince Fielder (2 votes), Hank Aaron (2 votes), Bob Ogilvie (2 votes), Greg Vaughn (1 vote), Don Money (1 vote)

I hate to say it but the Know It All’s disappointed me on this one for 2 reasons. #1 only 3 votes for Bob Uecker, not right and #2 Hank Aaron didn’t play for the Brewers franchise, he played for the Braves franchise.

Pittsburgh PiratesPittsburgh Pirates

Roberto Clemente (15 votes)

Willie Stargell (15 votes)

Honus Wagner (10 votes)

Bill Mazeroski (6 votes)

Other receiving votes: Ralph Kiner (4 votes), Barry Bonds (3 votes), Andrew McCutchen (1 vote), Bob Friend (1 vote), Tony Pena (1 vote), Dave Parker (1 vote)

Once again can’t go wrong with 4 Hall of Famers but Maz is only on the Pirates Mt. Rushmore for 1 reason. I understand Maz played in Pittsburgh for 17 years but I preferred Kiner over Maz.

gibson-colorSt. Louis Cardinals

Bob Gibson (16 votes)

Stan Musial (16 votes)

Rogers Hornsby (13 votes)

Ozzie Smith (10 votes)

Other receiving votes: Lou Brock (9 Votes), Albert Pujols (5 votes), Dizzy Dean (1 vote), Red Schoendist (1 vote), Jack Buck (1 vote), Yadier Molina (1 vote)

It was quite a battle between Ozzie and Lou for the 4th spot on the mountain. The Know It All’s decided to go with Defense over Speed. Can’t go wrong with either selection. I was happy to see Yadi got at least 1 vote.

  1. Hank Aaron played for the Brewers in 1975 and 1976. I didn’t vote for him but he did finish his career as a Brewer.
