Mt. Rushmore: NL East Edition

hank-aaron-imageAtlanta Braves

Hank Aaron (21 votes)
Greg Maddux (20 votes)
Chipper Jones (19 votes)
Warren Spahn (8 votes)
Other receiving votes: John Smoltz (7), Tom Glavine (6), Bobby Cox (6), Eddie Mathews (6), Dale Murphy (5), Phil Niekro (1), Fred McGriff (1)

No surprises here really. I thought Eddie Mathews would get a few more votes but I think the Know It All’s did a good job with the Braves.

Miami Marlins

The Marlins were the only team that the Know It All’s couldn’t come up with a Mt. Rushmore. I think only 3 people voted.

Tom Seaver (14 votes)
Dwight Gooden (11 votes)
Darryl Strawberry (8 votes)
Mike Piazza (8 votes)
Other receiving votes: David Wright (7), Keith Hernandez (5 votes), Nolan Ryan (4 votes), Jerry Koosman (3 votes), Gary Carter (2 votes), Carlos Beltran (1 vote), Gil Hodges (1 vote), Bill Buckner (1 vote)

I really thought David Wright would into the Mt. Rushmore for the Mets but he came up a couple votes short. Besides Seaver I thought just about anyone had a shot to crack the top 4.

Steve Carlton (9 votes)
Mike Schmidt (8 votes)
Robin Roberts (6 votes)
Richie Asburn (5 votes)
Other receiving votes: Lenny Dykstra (1 vote), Jimmy Rollins (1 vote), Larry Bowa (1 vote), John Kruk (1 vote), Pete Rose (1 vote), Phillie Phanatic (1 vote)
This was probably one the easiest Mt. Rushmore’s. Not a lot of people voted and they were pretty much all for the same 4 guys.

Tim Raines (15 votes)
Gary Carter (13 votes)
Andre Dawson (12 votes)
Dennis Martinez (9 votes)
Other receiving votes: Vlad Guerrero (8 votes), Steve Rogers (6 votes), Rusty Staub (3 votes), Larry Walker (2 votes), Ryan Zimmerman (1 vote), Pedro Martinez (1 vote), Tim Wallach (1 vote), Delino DeShields (1 vote)

All Expos here expect for 1 vote for Zimmerman. Steve Rogers probably deserves to be in the top 4 over Dennis Martinez since Rogers played his whole career in Montreal and Martinez played most of this career in Baltimore. Martinez is the more well-known name so I understand why the Know It All’s went with him.
