So I have been racking my brain as to what topic I wanted to write about for my next article and it hit me today.  I want to write about the excitement surrounding the 2014 season and my personal excitements about the game as well.

First of all I am excited about my favorite MLB team, the Atlanta Braves. The re-signings of Andrelton Simmons (7 years, $58 million), Freddie Freeman ( 8 year, $135 million), Craig Kimbrel (4 years, $42 million) and Jason Heyward ( 2 years, $ 13.3 million) have me very excited and I am also anxious and excited to see B.J. Upton bounce back from a horrible year.

Look for Dan Uggla to be ready to go too… The OSU Beavers are currently 4-2 but will be right there when all is said and done.

The George Fox Bruins are currently 9-1 and have won seven straight. (I am a little bias I have to admit, my brother is asst. pitching coach there)

On a personal note, I am excited to manage and coach my first Cal Ripken rookie baseball team. My son and I have spent a lot of time playing catch and hitting baseballs to get ready for the season.  We also have plans to go watch the Beavers on his 7th birthday May 10th vs. UCLA and hopefully get some autographs!!

I have also had the opportunity to start my son, Trevor, on his journey of collecting baseball cards.  I have to thank Norm for helping me with that and also Trevor’s uncle Doug for giving me back all the cards I gave him so I could pass them on to Trevor. Trev and I are already sifting through my old cards and sorting them.

I am ecstatic to play fantasy baseball and win my league.

Safeco field has the open air stadium feel while also being able to block out the rain.

I am also excited to make the trip up to Safeco Field and watch a two game series in August between the Mariners and the Braves.  More importantly I will be making that trip with my Dad and little brother.

The excitement of all the Northwest League action is exciting too, working more with 9 Inning Know It All, and watching Jeter make his farewell tour around the majors is very exciting as well.  I am so glad that baseball remains such a huge part of my life every day.

Look for great things this season and remember everyone GO BRAVES!!!!!!
