I know that you all just read the title of this blog and puked a little in your mouth but here me out.  I’m going to list out 5 reasons why the Astros are the best team in baseball and 3 scenarios that could happen getting the Astros to the World Series.

Reason #1

The average payroll for Major League Baseball teams falls around the $100 million dollar range. There are the big spenders like the Dodgers and Yankees and the little guys like the A’s and Pirates. Teams end up paying 1-2 million dollars per win. The Astros are going to be a huge bargain for wins per dollar spent.  They just have to win a handful of games to average $10 per victory.  The may have a lower payroll as a team than what Alex Rodriguez will make but they will have more wins they he will have all year long.

Reason #2

Last year the A’s showed the world that even with a smaller budget you can play with the big boys of Major League Baseball. With that mindset the Astros must be this year’s A’s. There is no way a team spends that little of an amount unless they have some secret weapons that don’t cost any money to use.  Maybe the Houston Dynamo soccer team is really the baseball team in disguise and this season they will come out of nowhere and blow the league away while still competing for an MLS title.

Reason #3

Who expects the Astros to win? Well no one and that is what makes them dangerous. Players from opposing teams will ‘call in sick’ so that they can play a few rounds of golf, assuming that even the backups can win the game.  Then all of a sudden it will be mid-August and the Astros will have a 15 game lead in the AL West.  Don’t laugh because you all know the day off thing is a possibility.

Reason #4

The Astros have made the move from the NL to the AL and this is going to confuse everyone they face.  Pitchers like Felix Hernadez, Justin Verlander and David Price aren’t going to know how to pitch to these Astros.  The pitchers will be confused and lost as to what is going on and surely the Astros hitters will take advantage of this confusion all season long and lead the league in HRs, RBIs and Batting Average.

The Astros are going to fully unleash the power of the orange striped uniforms.  For years people have called them the ugliest uniforms in baseball history but that was all planned by the Astros because they knew that in the year 2013 they could take all of those negative comments and transform them into special fuel for their players. Beware the power of the orange.

World Series Scenario #1

One possible scenario is that MLB changes the rules on who makes it to the World Series. Instead of the five best teams in each league playing in the Wild Card game, Division series and the Championship series they are just going to automatically put the team with the highest winning percentage into the World Series.  The Astros who currently sit at 1-0 (1.000 winning %) are simply going to file a lawsuit prohibiting them from playing another game during the regular season.  They will remain 1-0 until the end of the season and will face the Washington National in the World Series.

World Series Scenario #2

In mid-July a random lawyer in Houston will find a problem with the collective bargaining agreement causing all players making more than $1 million to go on strike. The Astros are unaffected by this and quickly become the front runners for the World Series.  Not only do they make the World Series but they win it all in 7 games despite a great effort by their opponents, Billy Bob’s Bar & Grill softball team, champions of the Lazy, Fat and Unathletic softball league.

World Series Scenario #3

The final and most likely scenario is the Little League Organization accepts the Astros application to compete in the Little League World Series. The Astros dominate the U.S. side of the tournament but have to go into extra innings in order to beat team Japan.
