Have you ever given a player a card, photo or magazine to sign and the item wasn’t of that player? I have seen it happen a few times before with other autographers but I never thought it would happen to me. Well it happened to me. I wasn’t to happy about it but it was an honest mistake.

January 2013 007I was at Mariners fan fest last year and I bought a Mariners magazine that had some of the players on it that were going to be at FanFest. I got Mike Carp and Trayvon Robinson’s auto on it and there was one more player on it that was there. I thought or someone told me that player was Casper Wells, and I didn’t realize it until I gave it to Wells and he pointed out to me that he wasn’t on the cover.  He signed in the top right hand corner. Oops my mistake…………

I have mentioned in other blog posts that over the years we have learned quite a few things about graphing. One of the things that we have learned is how to eraser an autograph that was done in sharpie. Now I know what you are thinking, “you can’t erase sharpie that’s permanent” but you can on certain surfaces. Surfaces that are glossy such as photos, magazines and cards that are glossy. I have to give the credit to my brother in law Josh (9 Inning Know It All) on this one. He told me about it and I didn’t believe it until he showed me. Now where he heard about it I don’t know.

January 2013 008Now you would think erasing sharpie would be a difficult thing to do but it is really quite simple. All you need is a dry erase marker and a dry towel. All you do is go over the sharpie with the dry erase marker then wipe it clean with the towel. When I fixed my magazine I did it in small areas at a time because it was a bigger autograph. I went over it a few times to make sure all the sharpie was gone and now you can’t even tell it was signed before. This year I plan on going back to FanFest and have the right player sign the magazine, Blake Beavan.
